'Accord Same Status'
Fatehgarh Sahib convention on Dec. 25, 2003 passed a resolution urging Akal Takhat and SGPC to honour martyrs of recent struggle by making their sacrifices a part of daily Ardas
Thursday December 25th, 2003
There's virtually no effort to preserve the recent history of the Sikh Nation.
The sacrifices made during the recent
past were in accordance with Sikh traditions and in the larger interests of the Sikh Panth. The earlier sacrifices made
by the Sikhs are now part of the Ardas. The recent struggle should also be accorded the same status. Lest we forget,
the struggle and sacrifices made during this period should form part of the Ardas. In case the struggle had succeeded,
the story would have been different. This period of our history should also be preserved in the Sikh museum as part of the heritage by depicting the sacrifices in painting. The genocide of Sikhs in Nov 1984 and custodial killings in the aftermath should be depicted in these paintings. The pictures and paintings of the army attack are available in the museum but the genocide of 1984 and sacrifices made during struggle has been ignored. This is a mistake for which we all are equally responsible. And the time has come when we should give due respect and recognition to our all martyrs. The convention held to mark the Martyrdom Day of younger sons of Siri Guru Gobind Singh sought additions in Daily Ardas and installations of paintings in context of recent traumatic happenings. A resolution to this effect was passed in the convention which was signed by Harcharnjit Singh Dhami, Satnam Singh, Kanwarpal Singh (all Dal Khalsa office bearers); Karnail Singh Panjoli (youth Akali leader) and Kuldeep Singh Wadala (President, Akali Dal Democratic). Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Dr. Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon, Mr. Rajinder Singh, Advocate Mehal Singh Sidhu, SGPC member Tarlochan Singh Dupalpur, Shinderpal Singh, Iqbal Singh Mann and Sarabjit Singh Ghuman. |
