The martyrdom day of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur to be observed...
Thursday June 22nd, 2006
A convention to
mark the death anniversary of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, the first Sikh
warrior who is credited with establishing the sovereign Sikh rule would be
held at Fathegarh Sahib on June 25, Sunday.
The aim of the function is to make the present young generation feel proud of their heritage and history. The convention would bolster the morale of the youth who have gone astray from the Sikh principles and identity. It would also be a befitting reply to all those forces and individuals who had been attempting to project Baba Banda Singh Bahadur as “Bairagi”. Representatives of various Panthic groups would participate in the function to pay rich tributes to the Sikh warrior who introduced the peasant proprietorship in Punjab and gave the concept of a standing national army among the Khalsa. ![]() |
