The activities of Dera Sacha Saudha chief is highly objectionable and ridiculous. He is playing with Sikh sentiments and honour.

An emergency meeting of the executive committee of the organization was held under the leadership of president Satnam Singh Paonta Sahib at Amritsar to take note of the anti-Sikh activities of Dera Sacha Saudha. The meeting felt that Congress was patronizing the sect in the same manner it did in the case of Nirankaris in the mid 70’s. The activities of Dera chief are provocative and had hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs. It had reminded us the days of 1978 when Nirankaris under the patronage of then Congress government flourished to flay the Sikh sentiments. Incidentally, at that time also Parkash Singh Badal was the chief minister of the state.

Ironically, Badal has always adopted dilly-dallying tactics while dealing with such elements that had been responsible for making mockery of the Sikh ethos and principles. The Congress government at centre was manoeuvring the CBI to save Baba from its clutches in a murder case.

We ask the Punjab chief minister to rein in the activities of Dera Sadh lest it could spell disaster in the state.

We condemn the state administration for stopping the Sikhs to lodge their protest democratically against the sect’s blasphemous acts. The AD of the Dera chief published in Punjabi paper was highly derogatory.
