First Phase Over
Gurudwara Reform Movement enters into Second Phase
Friday September 15th, 2006
To begin with, it was decided to organize a Sikh Conference at Amritsar on Bandi Chorr Divas (October 21, 2006) to discuss and resolve the burning and contentious issues concerning the fate, future and destiny of the Sikh Nation. Reviving the old traditions, the Sikh masses will also be asked to gather en masse on the occasion. After a three-hour long meeting held in regard to the second phase of the movement, Manjit Singh Calcutta and Daljit Singh Bittu were appointed as the spokespersons of the Gurdwara Sudhar Panthic Committee, while Kanwar Pal Singh of Dal Khalsa was named as the organizing secretary of the movement. The Dal Khalsa office in Amritsar was also designated as the center of affairs for the second phase. Seminars will also be held at various different places where the status of the Akal Takht, appointment, removal, duties and working sphere of its Jathedar will be discussed. In regard to the annual election of the SGPC president to be held next month, it was decided to assemble at the Teja Singh Samundri Hall in a massive number to ensure that Parkash Singh Badal does not cause further damage to the institution by handpicking non-entity and tainted persons to head it. The buzz is: bring eminent Panthic personality with religious bent of mind to head the SGPC or otherwise face the wrath of the Sangat. |
